Every November, music fans ask the same questions: When is Spotify Wrapped coming out? Does November listening still count? And why did last year’s results look nothing like the music we remember playing?
Spotify Wrapped 2026 is approaching, but its official launch date and exact listening cutoff have not yet been announced. What we can do is separate confirmed information from guesswork, using Spotify’s detailed explanation of its 2025 calculations. Some of the answers are more surprising than you might expect.
There is no confirmed Spotify Wrapped 2026 release date yet. You’ll find Wednesday, December 2 mentioned online, but that is a prediction drawn from recent release patterns, not an announcement from Spotify.
Here are the official launch dates of the three most recent editions:
| Edition | Release date |
|---|---|
| Spotify Wrapped 2023 | November 29, 2023 |
| Spotify Wrapped 2024 | December 4, 2024 |
| Spotify Wrapped 2025 | December 3, 2025 |
| Spotify Wrapped 2026 | Not announced |
Those dates come from Spotify’s own 2023, 2024 and 2025 launch announcements.
If Spotify follows its recent pattern, expect Wrapped close to the turn from November to December. Until an official announcement appears, however, treat every specific date as tentative.
This is where the long-running October 31 cutoff myth falls apart. Spotify confirmed that its 2025 Wrapped reflected listening from January 1 until around the middle of November, rather than stopping automatically at Halloween.
That does not establish an exact 2026 cutoff. Spotify has not published one. But it does mean there is no reliable basis for telling everyone their November listening is already too late.
The distinction matters: the date Spotify stops collecting data for a particular Wrapped campaign is not the same as the date the recap is released.

Under Spotify’s published 2025 Wrapped rules, a listen counted once a track had played for more than 30 seconds. Top Songs were ranked by the number of qualifying listens—not by adding up the full length of every track.
For an electronic-music listener, that creates an interesting contrast. A three-minute pop song and a nine-minute extended house mix can each count as one qualifying listen. The longer mix doesn’t automatically carry three times the weight in your Top Songs ranking just because it plays longer.
This isn’t advice to game the system; it is a reminder that a streaming statistic measures a specific behaviour. It does not necessarily measure how much a particular song meant to you.
Spotify explains the difference between listens, weighted streams and listening time in its official methodology.
Yes, it did for Wrapped 2025. Spotify explicitly confirmed that offline listening was included, so downloaded songs weren’t automatically ignored just because you listened without an internet connection.
That makes a difference for people who listen on long journeys, during flights or where mobile coverage isn’t dependable. Spotify has not separately published every detail of its 2026 methodology, so the 2025 explanation remains the confirmed reference.
In 2025, Spotify separated total minutes listened from taste-based stories. Listening in Private Mode, or listening excluded from your Taste Profile, could still add to your total time on Spotify while being excluded from rankings meant to describe your musical tastes.
That helps explain why the number of hours shown in Wrapped might include sessions that don’t appear to have influenced your top artists or songs. An excluded playlist and the same song played elsewhere may also be treated differently depending on how and where that listening happens.
If you’re using playlists for sleep, work or a shared environment, understanding that distinction is more useful than trying to manipulate your favourite-artist ranking in the final days of the year.

Your music memories don’t always match the way a platform counts your listening. Spotify said that in 2025, Top Artists used weighted stream counts, giving primary artists more weight than secondary or featured artists. Meanwhile, Top Songs were based on qualifying plays.
An artist with a large catalogue that you streamed regularly can therefore rank above the performer of one song that seemed to be everywhere in your life. Shared devices and accounts can also affect what gets recorded.
None of that makes your personal memory less real. It simply shows the difference between an algorithmic summary and the soundtrack you would have chosen for yourself.
Spotify has announced a clear deadline for musicians: November 6, 2026 is the final day to submit short video messages for potential inclusion in fans’ Wrapped experiences.
According to Spotify’s instructions, eligible artists can record a vertical video of under 30 seconds, then submit it through Spotify for Artists. A submission is reviewed and does not guarantee placement.
This is a real deadline, not a speculative consumer launch date. Artists should check the official Spotify for Artists guidance for requirements.
Spotify has not yet confirmed how every feature will appear in 2026. For Wrapped 2025, eligible Free and Premium listeners could open the personalized experience in the updated Spotify mobile app, through the Home screen or by searching for Wrapped.
The 2025 eligibility threshold included at least 30 qualifying song streams across at least five artists, with exclusions for certain listening modes. Those were 2025 rules, not newly confirmed 2026 requirements.
Not if you’re listening to an independent online radio stream outside Spotify. Wrapped measures activity recorded through Spotify’s own service; it is not a universal record of everything you heard throughout the year.
That distinction says something fascinating about music discovery. A DJ set, a small club or a radio station might introduce you to your favourite record of the year. Spotify may only encounter that discovery later, when you choose to stream the track there.
At SoundVibe Radio, we focus on that discovery moment: Afro House, Melodic House, Organic House and Deep House, selected for listeners who want something beyond an algorithm’s next suggestion. Our recent ADE 2026 feature explores some of the artists and events shaping that wider music culture.
Wrapped is a compelling way to revisit a year of listening. But it cannot capture every important musical moment: the track you heard for the first time on holiday, a late-night radio discovery, an unexpected warm-up set, or a nine-minute groove that made you stop what you were doing.
Those experiences don’t always rise to the top of a plays-based chart. Sometimes the music that stays with you is the music you haven’t deliberately searched for.
